The Problem
The year end is laden with expectations to catch up with friends you haven’t seen since last year’s meet up. But what if you have nothing to catch up on? It has turned us into excuse-making experts when it comes to cancelling plans. Unfortunate for Nando’s, who created a sharing platter just for those year-end plans. We had to find a way to get people to put their excuse-making skills to good use: meet up and celebrate at Nando’s.
The Solution
Instead of meeting up to celebrate successes, big life changes, or other noteworthy reasons, we decided to take it down a notch. And got people to make up any excuse they could think of and turn it into a celebration at Nando’s. When we said any, we meant any. In a series of videos, we announced that any excuse was a good excuse to celebrate at Nando’s. Soon the internet joined in with excuses of their own. While most F&B outlets were telling people to celebrate big life milestones, we got people to meet just because. After all, the huge platter of chicken isn’t going to eat itself.
